Questions about pro forma invoices
Is a pro forma invoice a real invoice?
No. It asks for advance payment or declares value for customs, but it carries no invoice number and is not a tax invoice. The final invoice is a separate document.
Can the buyer reclaim VAT from a pro forma?
Not from the pro forma itself. Only a proper tax invoice supports a VAT claim, and tax rules differ by country. Lettr does not give tax advice.
Why does it have no number?
Numbering a preliminary document would pollute your invoice sequence. Pro forma documents in Lettr stay outside every numbering sequence on purpose.
What can I export?
PDF and DOCX, from the same layout shown in the preview.
